Deal Breakers is book one in the Dealing with Love Series. I really enjoyed Deal Breakers. Deal Breakers was my first book my Laura Lee that I have read and it won't be my last. I loved Devyn and Riley.

I'm in the mood for a best-friends-into-lovers romance so I really liked this one. I've never read anything written by Laura before but I have the strong feeling that I will read the sequels to this series.
I liked all the characters - well, except Jackson - and the chemistry between them was great. The character development is also good in Riley's case as he admits he made a huge mistake when he let Devyn down and mans up to be a father to his amazing son. Devyn and Drew's relationship is adorable, too.
The only thing I didn't like was that the POV is changing after like every two sentences and I would've liked less but longer chapters. The POV switches and the many chapters break the unity and not help with the enjoyment.
All in all it's a good read. Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you for let me read it!
I posted this review on NetGalley and a Hungarian version on my blog as well.
I received this book as a NETGALLEY ARC.
Not bad. It is a quick read - I read it in two evenings. I've never read a Laura Lee book before, but I enjoyed this enough I would read more from her. The plot moves along quickly, and the dual perspectives is nice without being redundant which can sometimes happen. The story wraps up nicely, and the sex scenes are well done. Not ridiculously overwrought. The story does make mention of 50 Shades of Gray.... I almost stopped then. I have no interest in that poorly written drivel. Luckily that plot device is over before it becomes annoying.
Overall quick and entertaining read.

Devyn and Riley are best friends-- they survived four years of college together. Devyn is focused on graduation and the paid internship that awaits her. Riley is headed to grad school, but he had fun in college as well, including a string of non-serious girlfriends. Riley's not exactly known for monogamy. However, before they head their separate ways, Devyn has one request of Riley - she wants him to help her lose her virginity (yes, seriously). She doesn't want to head into the next phase of her life a virgin and she thinks Riley is the perfect person to assist. Riley is thrilled to help, of course, and plans a special evening. But will that special night change everything for Devyn and Riley?
First of all, I don't know why I keep reading these "New Adult" books. This genre apparently exists on stereotypes and tropes and the ending is basically transparent. In my defense, I picked it up after reading two tough books, with a lot of murder and darkness. Sometimes you just need a fluff book to lighten things up.
For instance, sample dialogue: "I may have just jizzed in my pants a little. How can a woman this hot possibly know football? I think I'm in love." We're not even going to talk about all the things wrong with this.
Still, this book was more compelling than some of the recent New Adult books I've read. If you like New Adult, you'll enjoy this book - it's a fast read and somewhat cute. If you're like me and still adjusting to the genre, you'll roll your eyes at a good deal of the plot and dialogue, but potentially still enjoy the quickness and silliness of it all. 2.5 - 3 stars depending where you fall on the spectrum

It could have been my mood or my state of mind… I just could not fully enjoy this. This book is a pure fluff and romance, kind of to predictable for my taste. I would recommend Deal Breakers to readers that enjoy easy light-hearted romance, but don’t expect too much.
My main problems with books were little slut.-shaming in the beginning and the typical all-the-girls-apart-for-you-are-dumb-and-shallow. Yes, it’s great that Riley appreciates his girl, but come on, don’t put down the whole female population! This trend is not only in Deal Breakers though, a lot of books in new adult genre does that.
Riley and Devyn are very shallowly described, I never got a sense of who they are apart from a pant dropping tall guy and a hot blonde that is into sports. Also can we talk about how easily someone dropped the bomb that her parents are dead? It just felt like the writer was trying to put a layer to Devyn, but it came short because it didn’t tell me anything about the character.
The actual storyline was ok, I appreciated that it wasn’t dragged out (though there were times where it was too rushed). I little bit too predictable as I said before, but when you are not looking for anything mind-blowing, this is a nice read.
If this is going to be a series, I would not mind the author exploring Riley’s friends Brian (? now I am not sure if that was his name) and Devyn’s brother Drew. They seemed liked fun characters that could be explore more. If anyone has read Where I Belong by J. Daniels, this book has the same vibe to it.
Rating: 1.5 out of 5 (WHY ARE THERE NO HALF STARS?!)

So I had been seeing a lot of this book on GoodReads, and when I realised it was available for request on NetGalley - how could I stop myself!?
It took me only 2 - 2 1/2 hours to get through this book and definitely not in a good way!
Both Devyn and Riley got on my nerves individually and together! Where Devyn was supposed to be the intelligent, she was whiny and stubborn, not to mention flaky - again not in a good way.
Riley was supposed to be cocky and confident - but he just came off as a jerk. But still he was a bit more tolerable than Devyn.
The only reason I am giving this book 2 stars is because of Drew, Devyn's brother. He, honestly was the only one who made sense in this book and who actually thought things through before taking any decision.
This was not a book that I liked, not even the writing itself. That was choppy and it didn't have the usual flare that just might have saved this book from doom!

This book tugged all the right heartstrings, in all the right places. It was so cute with just a touch of sexy time scenes.
It kept me turning pages until late in the night and I could not get enough of Devyn and Riley!

Oh man... I thought I didn't even like contemporary romance anymore but this was so so good. It's like 1:30 am and I figure I'll read a little until I get tired. 6 am rolls around and I've finished it. It was everything I wish contemporary romance was but never found it to be until now. Totally worth destroying my sleep cycle. Lee single-handedly brought the genre back to life.
Here are the ways it's good.
It had multiple POVs which is a strong preference of mine.
It was very fast-paced like Lee wrote only the good parts. I did not have to skim through a single boring paragraph.
The characters made mistakes but were likable the whole time.
The couple sparkled with chemistry.
Gripping from start to finish.
Extremely feel-good.
I'm a new fan of this author. 10/10
