A true fairy tale. Completely captivated me, I was so wrapped up in it all. Absolutely one of my favorite things I've read in a long time, will be recommending it.

This book is really interesting and an enjoyable read. The story of Silver and Finch is a fascinating and exists in a supernatural world I found to be extremely intriguing and fun to read about.
However this book suffers from its length being too short to ever connect to the story or the narrative. The majority of the story is spent without one of the two core characters as they attempt and fail to solve the primary conflict which left me feeling like the genre had changed from the emotional romance of the first half to a poorly written action and adventure novel in which I was disconnected from any of the characters. Unfortunately it felt like Tesh was unwilling to commit to either story.
Just as I was beginning to feel emotionally tied to the blossoming love story it is cut off. The whole novel ends with the love story resolution but then feels like there is no logical reasoning to how we got there.
I enjoyed this book but doubt I will be rereading it or really recommending it to anyone else.

Beautiful, heartbreaking, lovely. The romance and characters are wonderful, but also just the way the world of the forest is described just had me aching to go and find an old tree. It's just a lovely read full of ghosts and pagan horrors and coming to terms with your past.

The prose is rich, the love story is tender, and the atmosphere is palpable. It feels like you are travelling deeper and deeper into a dense, thriving wood.

Pretty, atmospheric writing. Cute romance. I liked the characters. Overall I liked it but didn’t love it.

Tropes/Themes:
-mm romance
-forest setting
-historical
-folklore/fairtale elements
-dryads
-dark academia (a little bit)

A beautiful little novella, which manages to fit vivid characters, descriptions, and world-building into its short length. Somewhat darker than I expected, like an old, old fairytale—which is part of its mastery, I think. A wonderful way to spend a cozy evening.
