This book is so sad. I think all the reviews of people saying it made them cry had me expecting the same for myself, however, I did not cry. I wish this was a little longer, if it was I feel like it would have impacted me more and I would have connected more to the characters but overall the message was loud and clear and my heart still hurts a little because of it.

A deeply melancholy, but sweet perspective on the experience of Alzheimer’s between generations. The sentiment that forgetting gives rise to the opportunity to rediscover again, is a comforting takeaway for those living with this distressing condition. The grandfather’s repeated questions about school and the pursuit of mathematics is eerily similar to my own experience, and likely many others.
