I think the more that I read Ana Huang’s works, the more I become a fan.
King of Pride is such a captivating story, dealing with the forbidden relationship between Kai and Isabella. Again, I keep getting drawn back into Huang’s writing and how she crafts her characters’ relationships with one another. Glued to the last page, I could so envision myself in the heart of the action and this book honestly reads like a movie. I could legitimately find little fault with this book (other than the fact that it’s a bit too spicy). Huang does such an amazing job with creating this compelling and I can’t wait to read more of her works in the future.
Moderate: Infidelity, Death of parent, and Gun violence
Minor: Cancer and Drug abuse

I liked it better than KOW hence reading it in 2 days but the plot wasn’t fully consistent. Like once they fell in love with each other the book lost the same absurdity that it composed in the beginning. Like it was so out of hand going into it that I was a little disappointed it didn’t follow through till the epilogue and barely that. I hated how the guy that butchered Kai’s opportunity of CEO was only mentioned once like there were barely any clues as to who it would be honestly I thought it was Paxton. Kai and Isabella characters were super cute and I enjoyed watching them banter. HOWEVER I know it was planned for Kai to not be as aggressive as the former characters in the pre series but….. I still kinda missed the whole you touch her and I’ll kill you vive like it was there but it did not fulfill my satisfaction. Honestly the book wasn’t really predictable….I thought Kai’s mom had cancer like how did she get married to his dad again???? There was no connection there. Isabella’s procrastination drove my anxiety mad. Also I think my favorite part is being left to wonder if she said yes because like I know it’s implied considering it’s two years later but part of me wishes she crushed his mortal soul👀. Kai’s great an all but sometimes people need to bend and snap.
Moderate: Death of parent, Infidelity, Car accident, Classism, Drug abuse, Gaslighting, Grief, Sexism, Sexual harassment, Alcohol, Blood, Body shaming, Dysphoria, Sexual content, Alcoholism, and Cursing
