Memorable Quotes

- “How does he look at me?”
“Like he never wants to look away.” - “I’d never fallen in love before her. Once I did, I did it the way I did everything else. Completely. Totally. Irrevocably.”

- “She’d touched down in my life like a tornado, gotten my drink wrong during her first shift at Valhalla, and hadn’t left my thoughts since.”
- “Come on. Live a little, Young. I promise it won’t kill you.” “No, but you might,” he muttered.”

“I never really lived before you … And I don’t want to imagine living after you. Stay with me, love. Please.”
Kai - can this just be the reason to force someone, I mean, recommend someone to read this book? I usually listen to audiobooks when it comes to Ana's books so when I stumbled upon Kai in the first book, I was just immediately hooked. That accent? Instant panty-dropper for sure. The way he just goes for Isabella because he just can't stop himself anymore even though he really tried not to pursue her? Any girl would love to have someone such as Kai chase them. I'd even let myself be caught immediately - no time to waste. Ugh. Okay that's already too much of me swooning over this fictional character.
I love both main characters in the book, as I've already said about the first half of the couple. Isabella was pretty relatable since Filipino races are seldom portrayed in booktok books so I was just excited when I learned that she is one. The Filipino personalities in both Isabella and her family were also on point and can see it happening in several Filipino families. Isabella's backstory was definitely a shocker but that made me love her more than I had. She wanted to do something that she loves and that didn't stop her from pursuing her writing career - and I just love how Kai is very supportive of this. They both are very inspiring, to be honest. Kai got to where he is simply because he achieved it and not by any means of using his family name. I can say that I devoured this book and I would to see more of them in the future.
So close to being 5 stars if only there wasn’t that
“For all the girls who think smart is sexy. (And who know the quiet ones are the freakiest).”
Can we also talk about Ana Huang's dedication? Because I legit relate to this. I realized it when I started using dating apps and I just swipe right on guys who looks smart and instantly swift left on guys who looks like jocks. So when Kai was described as an English billionaire who wears glasses? I just died. Right there and then. Thank you, Ana, for writing Kai. We definitely appreciate him and how he takes off his glasses before spicy scenes.
