I liked the romance between Kai and Isabella more than than the first book. Their relationship progression felt more natural, from flirting at the bar, to messing around, to full fledged romance. As tight-laced Kai battles to become CEO of his family's company and Isabella struggles with her own self-doubt and lack of direction, they find that opposites do, in fact, attract.

This book can be read as a standalone. Each chapter alternates between Kai and Isabella's point of view. Kai, a billionaire who is in the running to become CEO, and Isabella, a bartender at the exclusive Valhalla lounge, are likable and have great chemistry together. It was nice to see a Filipino character (Isabella) in a romance book. There were references to turon and buko pandan. This book is super steamy. The corporate subterfuge reminded me of Succession

A .25 star comes off for Ch 37. UGH. It got better though and I got over it, the situation was redeemed but at the time I was annoyed.

This was a good next installment in the Kings of Sin series. I enjoyed the opposites of these two very much. Their relationship for the most part was easy going, had a nice flow, and sweet development.

This was such a fun read and a bit of a departure from Huang’s typical main characters. Kai and Isabella are complete opposites, but have been completely tied up in one another since they met. But with Kai out to earn his rightful position as CEO at his family’s company and Isabella struggling to find her purpose, their relationship gets muddy. Kai is the softest of the men I’ve read in this universe and I found that to be a welcome change. Isabella is pure chaos and self destruction; lovable yet a tad headache inducing. I really enjoyed the progression of Kai and Isabella’s love story as well as the set up for Dominic and Alessandra’s book (and maybe Clarissa and Felix?). One of my favorites from this universe.

I liked it better than KOW hence reading it in 2 days but the plot wasn’t fully consistent. Like once they fell in love with each other the book lost the same absurdity that it composed in the beginning. Like it was so out of hand going into it that I was a little disappointed it didn’t follow through till the epilogue and barely that. I hated how the guy that butchered Kai’s opportunity of CEO was only mentioned once like there were barely any clues as to who it would be honestly I thought it was Paxton. Kai and Isabella characters were super cute and I enjoyed watching them banter. HOWEVER I know it was planned for Kai to not be as aggressive as the former characters in the pre series but….. I still kinda missed the whole you touch her and I’ll kill you vive like it was there but it did not fulfill my satisfaction. Honestly the book wasn’t really predictable….
I thought Kai’s mom had cancer like how did she get married to his dad again???? There was no connection there. Isabella’s procrastination drove my anxiety mad.  Also I think my favorite part is being left to wonder if she said yes because like I know it’s implied considering it’s two years later but part of me wishes she crushed his mortal soul👀. Kai’s great an all but sometimes people need to bend and snap.
