jeeeeeez. both reiterated and opened my eyes about how deeply ingrained racism is in the medical field, specifically within reproductive health. I learned SO MUCH— highly recommend.

“The abstract freedom to choose is of meager value without meaningful options from which to choose and the ability to effectuate one’s choice”

As someone who is outspokenly pro-choice, I am sorry I did not read this book sooner. An absolutely essential read.

Whew, this was difficult to get through, but I toughed it out and I'm glad I did in light of the Dobbs decision in 2022, which is why I picked it up in the first place.

Just an FYI, this book pre-dates the Dobbs decision by at least a decade, so the parts about abortion should be read with that in mind.
