the narrator calling herself a good girl for obeying her kidnapper was the most disturbing part of the book, not the blood or the slob

horrifying, disgusting, unsettling. every trigger warning you can think of. read in one sitting. great at eliciting emotion from the reader (mainly disgust), but also so extreme it comes off as unrealistic at times. it’s mainly giving torture p*rn with a loose plot, as i imagine most of his books are. if you want to read a book that will turn your stomach then this is the one.

Really tough read, extremely violent, and gross. None of the characters are very likable. Some very unrealistic depictions of the human body, particularly female anatomy. Kinda feels like the author hates women tbh. The ending is terrible and further ruins an already awful story. Not my cup of tea I guess. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check your trigger warnings!! This is extreme horror and it can get very intense.

Insanely boring torture porn, with some homophobia forced at the end, for some reason... also the author doesn't really know how things like this work, I feel like. Boring, not worth the time.

A great, fast book. It’s gross, grimy, and I felt like I needed to take a shower after some scenes (this is a positive thing.)
Vera felt well fleshed-out and real as a character, and I found myself rooting for her throughout the book.
If you enjoy splatterpunk, I highly recommend this book.
My main complaint for this book is the unnecessary depiction of gay characters in the second-to-last chapter. Their sexuality felt like it had no real purpose, and I’m not sure why it was included.
