The ending was so sudden that I literally said "that's it???" out loud. I think this is a fantastic book, showing how Thiago's actions and the events he goes through affect what has happened. I love that there's a mix of Mexican culture, as I can relate and reflect a lot on my own personal experiences as a Latina. This book definitely makes you think about grief and how to cope with it and allows everyone to interpret the end as their own!

*Shane Madej voice* sounds like there's a guy in the walls, huh

Sorry for a super niche reference, now, let's proceed with the review. This book felt so disjointed. I didn't feel like Chicago and Colorado plot lines meshed well. (and as for the way the author choose to tie them narratively.... It's such a cop out).

Personally, some moment read as goofy and not scary. Sometimes it was camp, and sometimes it just broke my immersion into the story. But i'll give credits when they are due: the road trip episode was truly the highlight of the book. Tense in ways you can't just put your finger on why, with flashes of horrifying visuals.

Didn't care about the author's take on grief. I find it neither touching nor insightful. And Thiago as the main voice is annoying. God bless.
