Not the book I thought it would be. I thought it would be more informative and help me understand my cycle. Instead it was just the about the importance of speaking about it. Interesting, but not the type of book I was after.

So. I like the idea of the book: let's talk about periods without stigma. But. Mentioning surrogacy as an option for those who can't have their own children? As if surrogacy is not a way of exploring women due to their fertility and thus periods. Not a single mention of that pain and the hell suffered by many in a book about periods? After positively introducing the idea? Hell no. And do not get me started with "people who menstruate".

An incredibly insightful and passionate book all about breaking down the existing societal stigmas towards periods and the extent of period poverty in the UK. This should be required reading for all. Period. (Couldn't resist!)

'Periods, whether you are into tasting yours or ignoring it as best you can, are part of the essence of being female.'
First of all, I want to thank the author for writing this book! And I am glad that I read it. This is a book that talks everything about Period/Menstruation. Through this book, the author wanted to convey a very important fact , that is to stop portraying Menstruation as a gross or impure thing. Period is a very common phenomena in women, but the way everyone sees and treats it is very appalling. Not only does men treats it like a dirty thing but also women considers it as something very awful.
The book was very well researched with quotes and tales from a variety of people. She has also provided a lot of information related to period, which includes some of the popular myths surrounding period, blood and sex, menopause, and especially the chapter of 'wanted and unwanted blood' which hit me hard. In this chapter she talked about one of her friend Jennifer Palmer, a woman who does not have womb and thus can't have period and also about Cass Bliss, an non-binary trans activist who bleeds.
All in all, 'Period. It's about bloody time' was a pretty entertaining read for me. I loved the way the author has written the book, which was not only hilarious but also very blunt. The main motto of the book is to end the stigma around period and to promote period pride. I would recommend everyone, regardless of their gender to read this book. It was bloody amazing guys!
