I absolutely loved this book. I bought the children's edition because I really wanted to have a copy with the pictures in too, as I think this adds to the book, but if I get chance I will read the full version.
I've not come across a real life story about a cat before, most are about dogs, so it was interesting to read this one.
Bob really reminds me of my cat DJ, who is not just my cat, but essentially one of my best friends, like Bob is to James.
This is a really feel good book, it almost made me cry at some points, which is an achievement since I've never cried at a book.

Loved the book so much along with loving the movie ages ago. I’m glad to have read it finally. :)

Read in one sitting. Go Bob! I'm so glad he found a human to love, who loves him in return. I enjoyed this children's version, I feel like the author really explores the issues of homelessness and struggle without the gritty 'warts and all' I assume would be in the version for grown ups. I was very happy to have the inspiration without the voyerism that can accompany these types of tales. (To be clear, I haven't read the book for grown ups, I'm probably completely incorrect and it's just as delightful.)

"Everybody needs a break. Everybody deserves that second chance. Bob and I had taken ours..."

I often find myself coming back to reread this book, whether that's to relive its story or to feel a sense of nostalgia from when I first read it, either way, my heart is always warmed by the story of James and Bob, and it will forever be one that I hold close to my heart

RIP Bob :'(
