Brilliant as always. This kept me laughing all the way through. Especially the dame with the swamp dragons--the perfect satire of British horse and dog ladies.

I was a little disappointed in this book. I don't think it helps I read it coming off Wind and Truth, but the humor also didn't seem to land with me. The first half of the book was 2 stars, the second half was 4 stars, so equaling out to 3.

A fun introduction to Captain Vimes, Carrot and the rank of the City Watch of Ankh-Morpok. It took a little while for me to get invested in the book as it felt quite slow at the start, but once the story really gets going it was a thoroughly enjoyable read. Lots of clever references, parodies and subversions of classic tropes in classic Pratchett style. This book is often recommended as a great entry point into Discworld and I can see why.
