Okay fine, everyone is correct and this IS in fact the best Discworld book (at least so far). I love Samuel Vimes so much??? It’s actually not healthy. And Lady Sybil Ramkin??? Hulking viking woman of my heart. Carrot, Colon, and Nobbs are all so funny and lovable. I don’t even have much to say about the book, because it’s all just incoherent gushing. There’s just this layer of charm that none of the other Discworld books have quite managed to reach.

And the swamp dragons are so cute and pathetic! I love them too.

An excellent work of art. I have literally zero complaints about this one. The cast of characters is the best one yet and I'm excited to see more of the City Watch as I move through the Discworld.

I have to give this a five (I'd rated it a four previously...) Why? Well, it feels like coming home. The Night Watch series is my favourite 'set' within the Discworld & it's a joy to go back to the beginning. I laughed, I cried, I loved it. Can't wait to read the next one...
