I first read The Wrong Bride and was intrigued by Silas and Alanna Sinclair, so bought their book to read. I expected a similar format to The Wrong Bride, but was very pleasantly impressed that this is a different story. Here we have a second chance story, caused by memory loss, very intriguing!
Silas and Alanna met during his father and her mother’s burials. He consoled her when he found her crying in the cemetery. She gave him some light during his darkest day. This cemented their friendship.
Days later, Silas is made homeless when his evil stepmother takes all his father’s assets and throws him to the street. When Alanna starts volunteering at a homeless shelter, she finds Silas working there and they re-take the friendship they forged before.
When Alanna’s father goes bankrupt, she finds herself homeless too, and she goes to Silas’ shelter. He takes care of her and they start planning their future, together and hopeful.
Suddenly she went missing, and Silas went on to his future, forming Sinclair Securities, and searching for her all this time. She suddenly appears back in his world, but with total amnesia. And what is worse, she’s his little brother’s girlfriend!
The story was deliciously convoluted, Silas is fighting an unfair battle because he can’t tell his beloved who he is in her past and Ryan is fighting with all he has to keep her. Silas knows his evil stepmother is manipulating strings from the background and Silas wants to protect his little brother but also take his girlfriend back.
Reading this book was an exercise in patience and frustration as we read about a wonderful woman who has no memories but is attracted to Silas for reasons she doesn’t understand, mistrusts Ryan and battles to understand the forces that pull her back and forth. I loved Silas’ devotion, loved the thousand cranes part of the story, and loved how, in spite of her memory loss, she kept some of the important things from her past, like the handkerchief with the psi character, a sense there is a man she loves beyond her memories, her love of community work.
It was riveting and entertaining and very well-written.

This book's blurb needs to be rewritten. That's not at all what this book is about or what experience awaits when you begin reading. That's why I gave this 2 stars. This is not "off limits" or taboo ex's older brother for some revenge. This is a story focused around tragic losses and amnesia. The main plot point is the FMCs memory loss. She was never the younger brother's to begin with. He was a temporary, underwhelming, fill in used as a device for revenge by his own mother against the MMC.
The only hint about amnesia is the last part where the blurb says some secrets were better left uncovered or something along those lines... Pray tell... What secrets?! Nothing was uncovered. She literally had amnesia. She forgot her life. Those are not secrets to leave buried.

sighs tiktok your going to hell for lying to me
5 year age gap was insane like I caught in 30 pages in and once I read “locker slam”. I was like wait a minute if this man is in college why is she in high school?
freshly about to turn 18 and let’s backtrack to be her being 17 and that grown 20 something year old is calling her attractive this that and the third and comments about her outfits, and her body. Why did this writer think this was a good idea genuinely????
anyways, onto the story the main reason why I picked up this book in the first place from TikTok was because she got amnesia. Now this is the main plot point of the book and I was not entertained to say the least. I don’t feel the chemistry for this couple, I did skip a lot of chapters to get to the O who done it, and it being his step mom oh wow i’m so surprised….anyways this half brother basically I like the thought of her getting with his brother it should world in theory, that it would’ve gave me SOMETHING but the way it’s written if they were older in business this would make it 1 make sense and 2 I would say half brother and her being closer in age makes sense or whatever but since that happened and he’s like five years older than the rest of them, it’s just weird. Like am I supposed to root for this relationship? I stop routing the moment I realized, oh they do have this big ass age gap and it’s a weird
basically, he end up making a company and making a lot of money because his father gave home nothing so he made something of himself. His stepmom kicked him out of the house. He didn’t have relationship with his half brother. Understood why that’s a thing anyways his girlfriend and him have this misunderstood fucking fight which I agreed why his side completely, She gets out of the fucking apartment and gets hit by a car BOOM the mom finds out. The mom probably plan to her to get hit by a car anyway I didn’t read that part of the confession if that even was a thing that she and him you know, said AnyWho she gets her son to get with his ex just for him to give up everything for this girl five years later she needs and woop woop woop. He confronts his half brother in the office says why he did it. His whole fucking plan says yeah “I did fall for her when I didn’t mean to”….tomato tomato tomato tomato tomato tomato tomato
not only did this book piss me off it piss me off even more in the aspect of TikTok really thought this book ate
