I hate read this book. I’ve followed the author on TikTok for a while and really wanted to support but god damn. Where were the editors? For supposedly smart characters these two were idiots. Like you need therapy not a summer fling with your best friends sibling wtf? The writing was also trash, there were literal contradictions all over. One minute it was dawn the next it was pitch black night, hello? Also it took like 350 fucking pages for them to kiss and then like 4 straight chapters of them having sex. The MMC was such a douche and using his trauma as a 25 year old man go treat this woman like trash. And she would forgive everything cause she was horny?? I’m also so tired of the beautiful woman who doesn’t realize it I’m not like other girls cliche. I hope the author rewrites this story in a few years cause it had potential to be really beautiful. I’m definitely glad the characters didn’t end up together. Good riddance.

I enjoyed this and would be on my potential re-readable list of books. I felt deeply connected to the main characters. There is great banter, romance and good levels of intensity throughout.
I’ll Look For You Everywhere by Cameron Capello. If you like books that take care place of Italy, gossipy families, angst, and spice then you will love this book.
This book takes places in Italy and getting to explore it with the characters was pretty amazing. The plot and story line were good. I enjoyed the characters and their complexities. I loved Capello’s writing style.
Magdalen and Theo, are home to attend Magdalen’s sister wedding. Both have been away for a while and have come back different people. They are both different but are getting to know each other and falling in love. This is not your typical love story because at the end of the book they don’t get their HEA which is so much like real life. Thank you to MacMillan and NetGalley for letting me read this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.

I'm going to be a hater, so if you liked this book, walk away now. Also, I feel like this is a 2.5/5, but I will be nice and round up to 3.

No but like what do you mean? What was that? I don't want to flat out call this author a bad writer, but genuinely it doesn't seem like an editor looked at this book at all. It kind of makes me feel like this got picked up because the publisher thought it would sell since Capello is a relatively well known BookToker. Which... I get it, but I really just wish this had been a better book. It was incomprehensible for a lot of it, but somehow truly nothing was going on? I'm not certain that an editor could have saved it, but maybe they could have given it a fighting chance. Sometimes things would just happen from one paragraph to the next with no transition and I felt kind of left behind by that. And in the vein of nothing happening in this book, there are hints at a tragic past for both of our main characters and you still don't know what actually happened until quite literally 90% of the way through. Give me crumbs at least! I'm actually starving because of how much nothing this book gave me. The love interests? Pass. Theo genuinely just sucks and Magdalen I just didn't like very much. The chemistry was non-existent. Not even a concept of chemistry. And yet we were also cursed with their relationship being insta love-y. To me it felt creepy to have this man that homegirl doesn't really know (they KIND of knew each other as kids but that's not a solid leg to stand on here) calling her "baby" all the time after being an asshole to her for so much of the book. Going through it does not excuse you from being a shitty person! But yeah, if some MAN was suddenly calling me "baby" all the time (EVEN IF I KINDA KNEW HIM FROM CHILDHOOD), I'm literally sprinting, I'm running the other way, I'm changing my locks, maybe I'm even moving. I'd also like to add that a personal pet peeve of mine is using the word "croak" to indicate speaking, because the sound I imagine just takes me out of the story every time (especially during open door scenes), and it is used quite a lot in this book. I get that it's kind of tough to not use croak/rasp/huff/etc, but we could give it a shot.
I was skeptical at a hundred pages in and maybe I should have just DNF'ed then instead of spending hours of my life on it. Gaaaaaaaah. The ending pissed me off too. What do you mean by that!!!
Anyway, that's all to say that I would not pick this one up. I'm a little curious to see if a sophomore entry is better, but I will absolutely be getting the book from the library if I give it a try.
