This book is really great! And not like most books, this book actually something to me. I felt different after I finished it and the book left me some thoughts and lessons so guess I cansay it's life-changing! Really the movie before and now I like the book also. The book is better becauseit gave me some insights on Charlies thoughts and feelings how he views things in the world. Really great and the "afterward" in my copy really gives me hope and inspires me! Really recommend but should check trigger warnings first!

I loved the twist about Charlie's Aunt Helen. Literally had me saying oh my God over and over again out loud.

When Charlie wrote "it's strange to describe reading a book as a really great experience, but that's kind of how it felt". I understood. because that's exactly how i felt after reading it. An experience. Like it's high school all over again, and I'm watching it from the perspective of the quiet boy in our class.

To be blunt, I am not overly fond of the book. Maybe because it speaks about high school alienation, and the whole "nobody understands me" narrative whereas, I'm so used to the feeling belonging. I love the multifaceted character of Charlie. it took me a while to warm up with his character, but i was eventually sucked into his mind—how he struggles with uncontrolled sadness, intimacy, and sense of belonging.

Overall, still a classic book about sad teenagers
