I wanted a quick book. I got a quick book. But nothing about the way it made me feel was quick. I understand why this is a classic, why it is so famous, why everyone loves it.

It was not my plan to read it anytime soon, but thanks to my friend, I picked it up, feeling like I needed to be inspired to go back to reading once again. It's short and impactful, and I love nothing more than books that make me feel so much, that make me love and understand the character so much I merge into them, or feel like I'm living there with them. I'm pretty sure everyone knows this story, and the movie features Emma Watson and Logan Lerman, ffs, so I won't talk long about it, only that teenage me deserved to read this, young adult me deserves to have read this, and if this is the kind of book you enjoy, you deserve to read this.

The audiobook was fantastic. Charlie was lovely, Sam and Patrick were lovely. I feel like this book is important. So I recommend it (but please be aware of the trigger warnings).

Thoughtful, reflective, sad. Really perfectly captures a lot of high school feelings and worries and anxieties from the outside. Very human and full of mistakes and sadness and naive ignorance.

my heart breaks for charlie. this book was so beautiful breaking and so godamn heartbreaking because we got to see everything the way Charlie saw it. we didn't know anymore than he did. which is awful especially with everything he finds out at the end
