Sanders' original poem binds the informational text together beautifully. The backmatter includes a discussion guide and glossary, biographies of Cleve Jones and Gert McMullin, and a timelines of the quilt and AIDS in America.

Moving and important. We need more books for kids to help them understand LGBTQIA+ history, and this is a difficult and important part of it. Sanders handles the subject matter well.
