I really recommend this book it grips you quickly and you just don’t want to put it down. I really relate to the main character Ten she’s indecisive and impulsive. The way the plot twists and turns makes you want to keep reading to find out what happens. The book keeps you guessing until the end, it literally the last paragraph at the end that the realm which Ten picks is revealed. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a dystopian book with a spiritual twist.

I want to give this novel 4⭐️ but the voice is really hard to get around. I’m pretty sure the author had not been around actual teenagers when she wrote this. It felt very much like an adult trying to talk “like the kids talk these days.” And every character had the same amount of snark, so, yeah, that was difficult.

HOWEVER: the plot itself, the world building, the entire storyline is fascinating and invites a lot of thought about religion, how we consider life and afterlife, how we choose to live, without explicitly mentioning religion. The specific details of the world the characters live in are really creative and fun, and it is worth struggling through kids saying things like, “it’s the hip to my hop.” (🤢)

I definitely enjoyed this book and am looking forward to book two!
