Second read but first time audiobook. The story was still amazing the second time. Still obsessed with the writing and writing style. The narrators did an amazing job.

I enjoyed it but not as much as I thought I would. Stop saying male or female instead of man or woman. I get it. They are not human but what ever.

Couldn't put it down towards the end. Quite a complicated book with lots of world building but I knew I'd probably understand it if I kept reading.
There is a sequal coming next year which I will definitely be reading, I'm invested in the character now.
Had to go on tiktok after to fully understand all the details and could definitely reread to enjoy understanding more of it!

After I got passed the Glossary, Production Guide and then read the prologue, I already developed an headache before I even got to first chapter. It's like a freaking overload already with a glossary that is 20 pages long then top it off with the prologue trying to explain the creation of the world already felt to much. I read like three pages of the first chapter and I already overwhelmed from that much information I already obtained. I love a glossary and very developed world building and magical system like the the next person but it too much to soaked in the beginning. I saw this being hyped on tiktok and I thought to get give it a try. If I already feel this overwhelm from barely cracking the book open, how I would feel later on? So nope. Already bowing out of 700 page thing. Let the Titkok girls have this one. The cover is pretty tho.

I could not put this book down. The world building was excellent and I found the concept and storyline to be very unique and refreshing. The fantasy plot and story line of this book make it for me. It was such a good story!! The beginning could be confusing at times because it jumps right in but I also loved that and the main character drew me in right away because she was a total badass. Her character has her moments toward the middle of the book where she is a bit stubborn and annoying but overall there is so much depth to that character that I'm totally obsessed. I still have so many questions... I canNOT wait for the next book.
I only have two critiques worth mentioning. One is that the author uses the word masticate too often... sorry, but it was just unnecessary. Second, the male narrator for this book was an issue for me. His voice was too formal and dramatic sounding and it just didn't match the character, in my opinion. I ended up reading a lot of those chapters with no audio because it was really throwing me off. I'm hoping they change the narrator for the second book.

Overall, a really really great book. I really loved Reave. There are a lot of assassin fmc in the fantasy genre, but I bought into her and believed everything she thought/felt. Loved her little added quips, as well.
I liked Kaan for the most part. He teetered on being a bit boring, but all of his other qualities made up for it.
The world, magic system, dragons, characters created by Sarah Parker were so creative and incredibly detailed. I appreciate an author that puts so much thought into to their work.
It didn’t need to be as long as it was, it lost me at about 60%, but picked up right at the very end. The first half of the book had me hooked, so pacing was kinda off. Those are really the only complaints. I really enjoyed this book, I can’t wait to read the next one!
