The patriarchal tone of the main character was quite annoying in the beginning. It got better but just took a bit.
This series makes me a little uncomfortable with the professor - student romances.
Anna finds out the blind date she ran away from is her Russian Literature professor.

Adorable and lovely and magnificent!
Penny Reid has done it again. This story was just enchanting. Now pardon me while I go find myself a good looking, single, slightly brooding Russian Lit professor!

What didn't I like about this book? Check out the cover. It is the worst. If I didn't love Penny Reid, it would have been a pass. Dump the cover, Ms. Reidt. Put a hot blonde Russian American on the cover dressed in leather on a motorcycle. Otherwise, this book is perfection. Anna, the heroine is a nerdy college student, who is into cosplay. A friend recommends a fellow nerd, Lucas as a potential date. So Anna sends a quick email setting up a blind date. When Lucas arrives, she is stunned. He is gorgeous with brilliant blue eyes, clad in all leather. He begins questioning Anna about herself, and he refuses to accept superficial chitchat. Anna finds herself revealing a lot. Then her blind date explains that he isn't the Lucas, who was recommended by a friend. She sent the email to him by mistake. Embarrassed Anna flees. Months later, she discovers her handsome, brilliant Russian literature teacher is her blind date. I have so much love for this story for so many reasons. Both Luca and Anna share a passion for Russian literature, and a great deal of their attraction is based on their admiration for the other's intelligence. They have conversations about literature and philosophy. Anna is biracial, but the author does not announce this fact. Instead, the reader ascertains this fact from hints about Anna's halo of curls, her tawny skin, and her mother was from Nigeria. Finally, romances are demonstrating the breadth of American culture without resorting to stereotypes. This book is sexy and fun. The book is the beginning of a series. I look forward to more of Anna and Luca.
3.5 stars from me. I didn't love the premise, but appreciated the intelligence of the dialogue. Honestly, I prefer the beard books!
