Super short synopsis and I ended up loving it. Of course, it is written by Penny Reid, so I wasn't too surprised.
This book is so cute and adorable while also being drop-dead sexy at the same time. Perhaps this also describes our main characters as well. What I did like is that Anna is smart, going to school to be an engineer (I think?) and yet loves Russian Lit and thinks critically. Her professor teaches Russian Lit, so they balance each other, without Anna being the stupid young one.
And yes, I did say professor. There is a ten year age difference and the power dynamic is brought up. I never felt like this was sleezy-- it really showcases how these relationships can be healthy!
These is also some rep throw in as well as Anna is biracial and has anxiety problems. Luca's parents are Russian. There are quotes and arguments in this book which will make you think, making this adorable book also thought-provoking at the same time.
I absolutely love Penny Reid, this isn't going to change. I look forward to everything she writes.

The book I read didn't have anything to do with a Russian Professor but was about a research professor and his student.
Cute story
This is an enjoyable book. I didnt love it quite as much as her other series but its still really well done.

“You are flawless to me,” I held her with might and purpose, needing her to feel the veracity of my words, “We fit together like custom pieces from a two person puzzle. And therefore, you are exactly my perfect kind of nice.”
3.5 stars.
i enjoyed this so much. i loved both characters a lot, especially anna. she was fun to read from.. i just wish it was a bit longer

I'm not a huge fan of teacher/student romance, but I read anything Reid writes. She does not disappoint; it was everything I have to come to expect with her writing.
what happened. like genuinely what happened. it felt like a wattpad fic written during a manic episode while simultaneously reading anna karenina and watching a youtube video titled “how to be quirky in 10 steps.” there was a russian professor. there was a student. there was. .. tolstoy??? maybe???
i don't remember a single thing except the vibes and even those were like being trapped in a pretentious literature-themed escape room where the only way out is to awkwardly kiss your weirdly intense professor who quotes dostoyevsky mid-makeout.
i opened this book thinking i was about to enter a quirky academia romance and ended up in a molotov cocktail of cringe, confusion, and secondhand embarrassment. someone bring me a copy of war and peace so i can be emotionally euthanized with 1,200 pages of russian suffering instead.

Anna has a love of Russian literature. So when the opportunity to get into a Russian literature class occurs she takes it. Too bad the lecturer is from an accidental blind date where the professor turned up in leather pants as she did too.
This is a short steamy rom-com and if you enjoy a professor student story this may be right up your alley! The chemistry was the perfect kind of steamy for me balanced with some lusting love! 😘
