I loved the dynamics between these two characters but I felt the story was unfinished. I want to know more!

I didn’t read this in her newsletter because I wanted to read it all in one sitting and I’m too impatient to wait and read a chapter each month. But ahhhh, I loved it so much! I so enjoyed Anna and Luca, what a great couple. I seriously chuckled a lot over Anna. I give mega points to her because she likes to dance to 80’s music and do the robot. Yes girl, yes!

There is always a couple of sentences in each of Penny’s books that just speak to me. I highlight it and copy and paste it in a note. Sometimes I go back and reread all the ones I have. This one made the bigest impact on me. I wish I would’ve had this in my life 2 years ago. This is sooooo true.

“If you know who you are, rejection matters very little. It says more about the small-mindedness of the person who is doing the rejecting than it does about you.” Yes!

Another great story and I can’t wait to add this book to my bookshelf.

Anna Harris is a self-proclaimed nerd who studies electrical engineering, loves puzzles, trivia and books, more specifically, the great Russian novels. When she finally manages to snag a spot in a highly coveted Russian Lit class over the summer, the last thing she expects is to come face to face with the man she met on a blind date and ran away from months before.
Luca Kroft is an indecipherable man. He teaches in a three piece suit and a bowtie, but he also rides a motorcycle and is as brooding and mysterious as the characters of the books he teaches about.
This is my first venture with this author and I have to say I fell in love with these characters. Anna is strong and confident in her own skin and will stand her ground to unpredictable Luca until she is not while Luca is so restrained it hurts. I loved her passion and their chemistry and found the book deliriously romantic.
One of the things I liked most was that this book is short and unpretentious, but still a great story. I’d have liked to get further details on Luca’s relationship with his father, given the influence of the latter’s actions on his personality, but that’s a me thing. It doesn’t affect the story or the final outcome for the couple.
In all, this was an amazing read to meet a new to me author.

Enjoyed the story. Not so much to female narrator.

Real score 3.99. Don’t get me wrong, Penny is normally a five star read for me, 99% of the time. But there just wasn’t enough of this to get me there. I want my Pennys to go for days, not just a single on. Loved it still.

I actually loved this - so sad I have to wait for the next book! The mistaken identity bit at the beginning is catnip for me and I just couldn't stop reading.

Oh man that's it! I want more! We all want to know what the "I" stands for. Lol

Merged review:

Either I missed it in while listening to the audio, but we STILL don't know what the "I" stands for?!

This was disappointing at best. I usually absolutely love Penny Reid books, but this one lacked humor, depth, character development, and was just filled with pomposity. Definitely not for me.

Picked this up because it was free on audible. It was a bunch of miscommunication and a cringeworthy heroine. No thank you.

I've read a lot of Penny Reid books and this one felt different, maybe because it was shorter? maybe because it was set in the univeristy world? I don't know why but it felt like there were a ton more literature/pop culture references, which I really enjoyed by the way, but the Natasha/Andrei thing was a bit much after some time.
That said, I liked the story, laughed out loud a few times and enjoyed the characters!
