I love Tommy and Tuppence. I think that's actually how I started my review for "The Secret Adversary." But they are just so much fun. In this book, the not-so-newlyweds, well, Tuppence, is bemoaning how boring life has become. Luckily, their old boss walks in and asks if they would like to help catch some spies. What follows is a series of short stories, some having to do with the spies, some not. All fun. There's even the added enjoyment of Tommy and Tuppence pretending to be classic detectives along the way.

Not my favorite collection from her. But I love Tommy and Tuppence as characters.

3.5*

ok. I am just not the person for short stories

I get quite cross when people refer to Agatha Christie's stories as "cosy crime", as it suggests they've really not read a lot of them.
Having said that, this compendium of stories about Tommy and Tuppence is about as cosy as you can get.

While The Secret Adversary is one clearly defined story, Partners in Crime is a slew of detective cases that the charming pair take on while waiting for contact from a more sinister agent. The stories are for the most part flippant and engaging, but with none of the meat of many of Christie's other stories.

This is a quick book to pass the time, best read while eating apples or sucking on boiled sweets. Tommy & Tuppence are charming (even more so if you imagine them speaking like Paul F Tomkins and Pagett Brewster) and this is a true, low-maintenance read.

This was just a big old NOPE from me. It doesn’t even seem like it was written by the same author as other Christie’s I’ve read and loved. It was just so unlike her other books and I was both dreadfully bored and incredibly disappointed. I even put it aside with 50 of so pages left to go, which I NEVER do. I just couldn’t bear to read even one more word for fear of literally dying of boredom. Do yourself a favour, skip this Christie.

I generally enjoy Christie's books, but this one was easy to put down and hard to pick back up again. Christie's tendency to wrap up a good mystery a little too neatly and a little too quickly is taken to extreme limits in this book, with a mini-mystery solved in almost every chapter. No continuity, very little suspense, and a main story line that is so buried, you often forget it is there.

Plot or Character Driven: A mix

War ganz nett, aber das System mit diesen zusammengewürfelten Kurzgeschichten hat mir nicht so gut gefallen.

Right so I watched the Scotland England game while reading this book and my god the experience was transcendent.

I love Tommy and tuppence and they are quickly becoming my favourite duo by Christie.

Got to break out another one for the Croatia Scotland match on Tuesday.
