I loved every Emily Giffin book I've read, particularly "Something Borrowed" and "Something Blue." They are wonderfullly intertwined, told from different person's points of view. Fabulous story!

DNF this book. Rachel is insecure and whiny. She lets everyone around her dictate her life and then whines about not having the things she wants. Even when sleeping with her “best friend’s” fiancé she is just following Dexter’s lead the whole time. Darcy clearly wasn’t a great friend but Rachel followed her around like a puppy dog anyway while complaining about Darcy being a bad friend. I just didn’t find Rachel likable at all.

I LOVE this book so far. I can't put it down. The main character, Rachel, is incredibly likeable. That surprised me given her storyline...Read this book in about a day. Loved it. Will be reading the next one asap.

Received this book from the Goodreads First Reads program, and I absolutely loved it. It is well-written, funny, and heart-breaking, and you feel for the characters all the way through. After finishing this one, I plan on picking up the next one, Something Blue, to find out what else happens!

so sad to rate it this low, because the movie version is one of my favorites. The characters are unlikable and unredeemable, and many parts of the book have not aged gracefully since being written in 2004

I really enjoyed this book, one of the reasons were the references to 80's style which was very nostalgic for me. Another reason, if you were ever a girl like Rachel who wasn't the prettiest or most stylish, and got pushed around by your friends, this book will probably resonate with you.

Spoiler I am not sure if Darcy really was a friend or if she was a frenemy. It was almost like she enjoyed besting Rachel her entire life. But, is Darcy really to blame for everything? I don't think so, Rachel needs to take some responsibility in this relationship, and admit that she always put Darcy above herself and that is selflessness to such a high degree that it becomes a weakness of character. Darcy didn't always win, Rachel let her win. In the end, Rachel figures this out and finally asks for what she wants and stands up for herself.

Since the trailers look cute for the movie adaptation, I thought I'd give chick lit another try. Rachel falls in love with her best friend's fiance and then tries to rationalize that it's okay because her friend is selfish. I didn't buy it. I couldn't respect her or the cheating fiance, Dex. In fact, there wasn't a single likeable character.
