Incredibly thought-provoking and eloquently put. I recommend this book to my anti-racist, white peers and anyone who is wanting/needing to learn more about intersectionality, and how racism is a white-people problem. We all have to do our part to live anti-racist lives, and to challenge institutional racism everywhere that we see it, including within ourselves.

I’m pretty ashamed to say I put this book off for a very long time. I remember a few years ago when this blew up thinking ‘I should probably read that’ - but as a black woman with her head buried DEEEP in the sand I just didn’t want to hear it. Many of my close friends are white, my boyfriend is white, and I was content pretending there were no differences between us despite blatant evidence to the contrary. This book has validated so much of the emotion I had buried deep, taught me more about Black British history, and helped me better understand the unjust world I am doing my best to navigate. An insightful and powerful text. Absolutely required reading for any person living in Britain.

As a white person I have always been aware of racism but this book really opened my eyes to how deep it runs. It’s an important book to read, everyone should read it. I also think this book should be read in schools.
