It's been a while since I read the first book in the series so I'd forgotten that
Jill had killed Lundy.  I guess I won't be reading more about her after all.  That's too bad.

I was surprised we got another story about Jack and Jill.  I was also surprised that nearly everyone seemed to think it would be no big deal to switch bodies with an identical twin because they look so similar.  I would think there would always be some body dysphoria with a body swap, but I could see how it would be even worse with an identical twin, even for someone without OCD.  Even with identical twins there would be some minor differences, enough to produce an uncanny valley feeling every time you looked in the mirror.

This novella lacked the lyrical omniscient third person perspective that was present in the other Jack and Jill stories.

I'm glad Jack got her happy ending.

Probably would have been a higher rating if I hadn't read it this close to my mother's death.

I was so delighted falling back into this series after a long break since I enjoy the idea behind them and most of the character but there is such utter sadness buried within.

Sumi is terrifying and delightful in this book.
Jack is falling apart (not literally) and my heart hurts for her.
Alexis is cool as hell.
I had hoped there would be more than the briefest mention of Christopher & Cade, but perhaps they'll get the own stories yet.

As a side note, Seanan pronounces a few words very differently than I have heard them before.

I feel conflicted about giving this 4 stars. On the one hand, I loved going back to the Moors, as I really enjoyed Down Among the Sticks and Bones. I was excited to get more of Jack and Jill's story, to have the long-awaited confrontation between the two sisters. But the confrontation literally happens in the last 10% of the book. And it's done and over SO quickly that it just felt.. rushed?

And we finally get Jack's girlfriend Alexis in the story and it felt like she was barely there as a side character. It would have been lovely to have some more development of her and Jack and their relationship, through death and resurrection. This felt more like Christopher's story (and even Cora's, with her meeting the Drowned Gods), and less like Jack's.

(Also, Jill is still the actual worst.)

McGuire really knows how to write an amazing story, wow. I utterly love the character of Jack in the Wayward Children series; I relate to her so much, and that only developed further in this next book. The mental health rep, specifically OCD, is stellar as usual. I also greatly enjoyed knowing what happened after books 1 and 2 in the series with Jack, Jill, and Alexis. The queer rep is great in this one as usual too. The overly descriptive atmosphere of the Moors, and Jack and Alexis' entrance back to Eleanor West's home are done in such detail that you feel like you're taking this adventure with them. I hope we learn what happened with Dr. Bleak at the end, but I appreciated not being left with a lot of questions at the end of this one. Lastly, I loved the parts throughout the book, but especially at the beginning, of Jack's struggle with being in Jill's body and all that comes with that in relation to her being herself and her mental health. I hope we see more of Jack in later books!

This one didn't quite keep my attention and I'll be honest I don't really remember a lot besides
Jack and Jill switching bodies multiple times?
