The Moon

At night
darkness clouds
your vision,
until the moon
awakens
and lights your path.

Even in the shadows
of the night,
light is there
helping you
along the way.

I found this novella of poetry randomly on kindle unlimited (July 2021) and it was the cover art that captured my attention first. Then it is my love for poetry collections to begin reading at once, even if I have many other books started already. Then it was what I found inside! Reason to Stay is focused on hardships that everyone goes through in life, such as heartbreak, loss, and grief. I found it to be an inspirational tale expressing many of the different stages of each hardship that people go through.
I found it is really moving and heart felt, with several poems standing out more than others. I wonder upon re-reading in the future if the same poems will still stand out or new ones will step into the light. For me, this book of poetry will be able to move with me as I continue on my way through life's journey.
The poems that stood out upon my first reading are U.G.L.Y., The Moon, Rain Allows Growth, Insults are like Pebbles, Guiding Light, Remembering the Lost, and below is my favorite The woman I was .

The woman I was years ago
is no longer who I am.
I survived the storm.
I am stronger than ever before.
The past may haunt me,
but it does not define me.
