I wasn’t completely sure what to expect when I started this book but quickly found myself enjoying it. Unlike the last two books that followed Sam’s pov, a lot of this book follows Frightful’s pov. It definitely made things more interesting when you see things from the bird’s view.
I’m not even going to lie, I really enjoyed getting to learn how Frightful thought. I also enjoyed learning about what she did once she was no longer tied to Sam. It was interesting seeing how her wild instincts slowly came back to her, but she was still imprinted on him.
I definitely enjoyed this book, and kinda sad to see it done, however it was a bittersweet finish. It’s a book series that I do recommend reading, especially if looking for a quick adventurous story.
Though I loved my side of the mountain I found that as the series progressed it got a little dreary.

This one was mostly from a bird's perspective and I didn't really enjoy it as much as the other two. I'm catching a trend though with Jean Craighead George. If you compare Julie of the Wolves series with the My Side of the Mountain series they are very similar: run away kid, fends for themselves in the wilderness, befriends a wild animal and then fights for that wild animals right to survive.
Listened to this as an audiobook with my two boys as part of the whole trilogy. I loved this slightly less than My Side of the Mountain but more than On the Far Side of the Mountain. I can see why it would not be everyone's cup of tea, seeing as it is told from the point of view of a peregrine falcon and definitely is a little heavy-handed on the ecology lessons, but frankly, the three of us loved it and learned a lot about raptors.
