I couldn’t take this book seriously and the writing wasn’t very good. Literally nothing happen for the first 100 pages and when something finally did happen, the pacing became way too fast that I just didn’t care

I absolutely loved this book. It was fascinating and exiting from beginning to end. At first I wasn't so sure about it, because other mermaids books I had read weren't that good, but this was amazing and I'm glad I read it. Each character is well defined and each has some meaning to the story, and I liked how the prince Serafina was supposed to marry wasn't the great handsome prince like in most books. He actually made a huge mistake and made me laugh at his stupidity. (Sorry to those who like him) The description and detail the author put in this book was magnificent. I also love this because it's Disney. It supposed to be for ages roughly 10-12, but I'm older than that and I can't wait for the next book to come out.

I found this book to be enjoyable. It wasn't my favorite, but it was fun to read. I had never read a mermaid before before this one, and wasn't sure what to expect, luckily this wasn't to bad. My biggest issues with this book was the we'd meet many people, but would only hear about them for a few pages till they are all but forgotten. Mahdi plays a somewhat large role at the beginning of the novel but becomes nonexistent after the first 70 pages. I also wasn't a huge fan of the world building, at certain parts it was hard to imagine it was underwater. It almost felt as if this story wasn't based in the water at all, which I'm a little disappointed in since this is a mermaid book. I also felt that the farther the book went on the younger the attended audience became, which was a bit frustrating.
All in all I did enjoy this book and plan on continuing the series, especially since this one ended on a cliff hanger.

Het was veel tell, weinig show.
