I really enjoyed this book but it was definitely dry. Had to leave and come back to it a few times. Listening as an audiobook helped. I appreciated how the Galvin family’s story was woven in with the concurrent research happening throughout the decades.

The narrator of the audiobook was fantastic. I’d love to read this same book from the lens of societal attitudes toward schizophrenia and mental illness in general.

Extremely well-researched. Hidden Valley Road reads like fiction even though it's a horrifying, heartbreaking true story.
