I thought it was a really thorough and well written call to action that while not shying away did empower you to feel like you could challenge racism.

It was hard to give a rating for this book but as I struggled towards the end I think it needs to be 3 stars. Definitely a must read for everyone - particularly at the moment with the rise in conversation about #blacklivesmatter

As a white person who grew up surrounded by only white people and with black history not being part of my schooling I particularly learnt a lot in the first half of this book. The histories chapter and the system were the most poignant for me. I did struggle to connect with the second half of the book and found myself skimming pages and having to reread some parts.

This book has provided answers to questions that I didn't know I had but has also generated many more and this will only be the start of the learning.
