This is the kind of book I usually love, but it is definitely “from another time.” The R word was used to mean “lame” and “stupid” several times, and I really cringed at “I’m tired of apologizing for being white.” Oof!

I read this while I was in New York and it was the perfect book to do that with. Wertz captures the harshness of New York and the beauty. A wonderful book with an excellent foreword! I would recommend this to my friends

It made me laugh and who can't like a book like that? Full(er) review to come later.

Julia Wertz is right around my age, so I saw a little of my early 20s in this graphic novel (crappy jobs, graduating from college but trying to figure out the rest of your life, etc.). She has some sadness in her life, but I feel like she does a better job than most of making the most of what's happening and trying to see the entertaining funny side of it.

Very funny, though I felt kinda weird reading this at the same time Julia was moving back to California from NYC. I wish her all the best and hope she writes a book about it :D

I loved it. Kind of felt like the story of my life circa 2005 lol

You can feel the passion and authenticity within each individual page. I found myself getting lost within the sketches of the apartments, relating to the main character in both her successes and her struggles, and ultimately discovered a person whose story I deeply resonate with and I'm so thankful for this medium because of that.

I normally love graphic memoirs like this, I really do. But the banality of Julia Wertz's boring existence just made me wonder why anyone thought her days were worth being chronicled and published. The only virtue to this book I could think of would be possibly helping someone else out of a slump of alcohol-induced depression. It might sound egotistical, but I have more interesting adventures, introspections, and random encounters with strangers on the street on just about any given day than Wertz had in this entire collection combined.
