Narrated by Devon Sorvari | Listened to via Libby App

I picked up this series because the titles, cover art, and synopsis promised an epic fantasy adventure, but unfortunately, it didn’t deliver for me.

The Curse of Sins

I didn’t finish this one. The audiobook, again narrated by the talented Devon Sorvari, stretched to 21 hours, which felt overwhelming. While the political and religious intrigue added more layers this time, the pacing was still slow, and the magic system left me confused. The settings were vague, and most of the characters didn’t feel fleshed out. There were glimpses of brilliance in the spymaster’s development, but it came way too late in the story.

Overall: The series tries to include every fantasy trope imaginable chosen one, forbidden romance, special powers but instead of feeling exciting, it felt overstuffed and chaotic. Devon Sorvari narration is a highlight, but it wasn’t enough to save this one for me.
