From genuinely scary and heartbreaking to sweet and even funny, this book covers it all. The story has clearly been carefully crafted and the fox characters come vividly alive within these pages.

I can't recommend enough the audiobook version read by the author - his perfectly performed voice for Uly (how can a person fake hiccups so well?!) is a treat.

I really enjoyed this book. Middle grade is so fantastic in that it can thrill you and make you cry. Very enjoyable even if sad in parts, but ultimately the life lesson about things growing back from loss is relevant at any age.
