(2 and 3/4 stars) I had such high hopes for this book!!! :(((

I dived into this anthology super excited for queer AUSTRALIAN stories but I was sadly disappointed.

The stories were pretty sweet but they weren't really my thing. Some of them had super interesting concepts but I wasn't THAT in love with the book overall.

So I wouldn't recommend but I still think that yall should go ahead and give it a go!

3 1/2 stars. I think Benjamin Law's contribution was my favourite, followed by Jen Wilde and Erin Gough's. Quite a diverse range of stories

Mostly great collection and bonus! it includes work by a few friends.

(Warning: skip the Tsiolkas story. It's not YA, so I don't know why it was included here but the main reason for skipping is that the way it treats sexual abuse of teenagers is really awful)

I’ve been meaning to read this for a while but hadn’t quite gotten around to it. I prioritised it as soon as I found out I was going to Q-Lit, where Michael Earp (who edited the collection and contributed a story) was running a workshop. I quite enjoyed reading most of these stories. I did, of course, have a few favourites. There was only one story in the collection I didn’t like.
This is the third release in the LoveOzYA series, so if you’re looking for some short stories to read, I’d recommend checking these out. I ordered the others through work, so I’ll get to those soon.

it’s really refreshing to hear a story where you’ve actually been to some of the places inside and it’s good to know that things like this are out there in my country as well as others.

This was a great short story collection. My favourite stories were Bitter Draught, light bulb and waiting. After reading this collection I definitely want to explore the authors works :)
