Die erste Hälfte war um ehrlich zu sein ziemlich schwierig. Der Ton wirkte kindisch, überdreht und fast so, als wäre das Buch für 12-Jährige geschrieben:

„Bist du high? Hattest du einen Rückfall? Willst du an meinen Titten lutschen?“

Die Vorstellung, dass die eigene Mutter Tampons benutzte, war irgendwie verstörend. 

Dialoge wie diese haben mich innerlich fast zum weinen gebracht und ich wollte abbrechen, da alles kindisch und aufgesetzt wirkte. Vor allem, weil die beiden Hauptfiguren sich auch noch  „Chick“ und „Satan“ nennen?…

Am Anfang kam mir zwar alles etwas oberflächlich vor, aber die zweite Hälfte wurde deutlich besser. Die Beziehung zwischen Shay und Landon wurde tiefgründiger und die Geschichte gewann an Authenzität. Wenn man über die unangenehmen Szenen und die überzogenen Kosenamen hinwegsehen kann, bleibt ein Buch, das in seiner zweiten Hälfte Potenzial zeigt.

Dieses Buch hat mein Herz gebrochen. Shay und Landon sind wundervoll. Ich habe Angst vor dem zweiten Teil. Dieses Buch ist einfach nur wow, diese Geschichte ist einfach nur wow. Ich weiß gar nicht, was ich sagen soll.

What a beautiful book! It shows how our opinions of someone can change when we truly get to know them. And depending on who tells the story. After "Eleanor & Grey", I was sure Landon was a terrible character, but this book opened my eyes. There's a quote that Landon himself says. It goes like this: "In some books, I'll come out as a villain and others as a hero. Funny how we occupy different roles in each one's stories". This book taught me a lot about friendship, pain and love. When the subject of depression is brought up, it is something very well explored and beautiful to see develop. I don't think it was better than "Eleanor & Grey" but it was still beautiful to read. Now excuse me, I'm going to read part two of this novel I'm dying to see how it all goes! Read it if you have the opportunity!

This book was amazing and had me crying on an airplane with so many strangers around me. I couldn’t stop the tears and I didn’t want to. Ugh. These characters were something else and I cannot wait for the second one.

I knew going I to this book that emotions would he all over the place and I was not disappointed! I loved every second of this rollercoaster ride!
