Welcome to the AMAZING Fever Knights Fake Strategy Guide that will make you want to be able to play the game!

I just LOVE LOVE strategy guides and I really miss that they aren’t really around anymore. I remember back with the GBA and other nintendo stuff that one could get strategy guides. Helping you out with all sorts of things, give some bonus information, and more. So when I saw that one of my favourite artists, Adam Ellis, was making a fake strategy guide? I needed that! Sadly, thanks to Amazon being Amazon, it took me almost a year to get it. Imagine my delight that I could finally read this one!

In this one we go deep into a game that I just am desperately to play for real! Fever Knights! One day Finneus goes out for surfing and he loses his arm… but what happened because he has lost his memories and the beach was closed down ASAP. Through character guides, level guides, and more we find out more and more about what happened that fateful day along with seeing the strange things that are happening in this world of Toro Island! Because there is a lot of strange stuff happening. I just wanted to step in the book so many times to be part of the events that took place… well OK, until the boss battles at least because Adam Ellis has drawn some horrifying bosses, which I could have expected given his love for horror comics. Haha, but still I was not ready for Silent Hill like monsters. NOPE.

I loved how the Strategy Guide, despite being for a fake game, really captures that essence of strategy guides. You have information on monsters, on levels, character guides, item and inventory help and guides, we get secrets and little bits here and there with extra information. It was just a joy to read and I will definitely will be re-reading it for many years to come. And of course, still praying that someone makes a deal with Adam and makes this a real video game!

All in all, I would HIGHLY recommend this book to all!

'Fever Knights' by Adam Ellis is a story told as a fake strategy guide for a game.

Finneus lives on Toro Island with his friends and just wants to surf, but weird things start happening and they are interested in solving things. Throughout this book, which plays like a strategy (or even RPG) guide, we learn about the heroes and enemies, the different terrain and character transformations and learn about Toro Island.

I like reading strategy guides, so this was a fun concept. I like what the author did here and had fun reading it.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

Man this was exactly up my alley and extremely my cup of tea. I've been following some of the art of Fever Knights for a while and thought it was going to be an actual game; but this is just as good. I used to read the strategy guides for SNES games as a kid, and this along with the game Tunic, reminded me how much I freaking love them.

This is a fun gimmick. While I was glad that it dropped some staples of Nintendo Power Player's Guides like item tables and ultra-detailed item stats I did kind of miss the area maps with treasure chests, hidden doors, etc.

On the whole it does a good job of giving detail to make it feel like a game while also focusing on the story.

This was such a cool concept! I've never read any book that was structured as a strategy guide; other than a regular strategy guide. I really enjoyed reading through this even though it took me a little bit to get used to it. But once I did it really flew! It was so interesting to read all about every little detail and not get bored. If this had been a traditional book that described every single weapon that the characters came across in their adventures I would have been bored out of my mind. But seeing them along with the amazing illustrations was a blast! I will 100% be recommending this book to everyone that I know.

Adam uses a super original storytelling device via the strategy guide format. It was really fun to read through, flip to the map and back, and imagine this mysterious quest happening on a screen. His iconic art style is crisp as ever, too.

I remember seeing the first glimpses of this idea years and years ago, and it's so nice to finally hold the finished thing in my hand!

Fever Knights is a story hidden under the guise of a video game guide. Follow Finneus and his group of friends as they discover what happened to transform their sleepy seaside town into a place full of monsters and mayhem.

I LOVED this. I'm always a sucker for books that play with the way information is presented to the reader, and I absolutely ate this entire thing up. It reminded me of reading Pokemon guides as a kid, hoping I could figure out what to do next and who to add to my party to make my journey a little easier. The way information was slowly revealed, the details put into the items and descriptions, and the overall story of this was so much fun!

I'd eagerly read more graphic novels in this format. What a gem of a book.
