I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!

This book opened my mind to possibilities I'd not thought of in terms of how to allow myself to just be. A fun, colorful, easy read full of succulent bits of joy.

Sark was my favorite inspirational writer as a teenager, and I just revisited this one and was surprisingly pleased by how well it held up. Sure, she is a lot more hippy-dippy, new age-y than I would want were I to discover her writing now as a 33-year-old, but rereading her distinctive voice was like discovering an old letter from a beloved aunt: familiar, comforting, inspiring, only a wee bit cringe-inducing.

This is my favorite book that I would reccomend to literally every woman and every person I know. For real. I found it at goodwill a few years ago and have always picked it up and read a few pages but this time I read the whole thing cover to cover. I wish SARK was my grandma but she is my mentor through her writing! A guide to becoming true and deep and gentle and welcoming and stepping in. So many quotes I love I can’t choose one. Inspired so many journal entries. Most magic book to read when you’re a 20 year old girl. Going to go buy a new shirt and make a cake now.

“The succulent person is bursting with juices, stories, animations, ideas, and love. The dry person looks sideways and says, ‘who do you think you are?’”

“Sometimes I am able to meditate and go for a long nourishing walk. Sometimes I just lie flat and still in a darkened room, fumbling for the leg of god to hold onto.”

On embracing vibrant passionate outspoken sexuality: “ I wish I could’ve told the truth sooner to all the lovers I was performing for. I wish I could have forgiven myself along the way for my missteps.”

SUCCULENT: ripe. Juicy. Whole. Round. Exuberant. Wild. Rich. Wide. Deep. Firm. Rare. Female.

Katie mae Glasgow im looking at you as the next to read this book. Love you miss you

“No matter how dry and tame and nice we live, we will die. We will also suffer along the way.”

I love SARK and her writing. It’s extremely raw and authentic and feels like reading a letter from your close friend. A mentor, perhaps, helping you through life.
I know that some women will not agree with everything she recommends for becoming a, “succulent wild woman”, and that’s okay! SARK is fucking outrageous and quirky and strange, and if you’re not into that then you probably won’t jive with her outlook and ideas. Examples being; wearing out there clothes, eating fruit naked and bathing in its sticky juice, midnight naps under the moon, etc. You get it, lol. But for those of you that got a tingle reading that, becoming more intrigued by the wacky SARK character…. She’s the author for you.
Note: the chapter on money was a bit tone deaf and outdated.

Everyone has a different self-help style--or at least, that's what I like to believe. For me, SARK's is creative and engaging, but perhaps a bit too much. There's so many words on the page, so much visual action, and so much emotion and directive wrapped around all of this that the book was difficult for me to digest. That being said, there are some real gems of advice and good mentoring in here that you should definitely check out.

Recommended to: creative people caught in a rut, people of SARK's generation and slightly older and slightly younger, women who want to learn to be wilder and bolder and more succulent

The audio version is awful-poor quality and the content doesn't lend itself well to it. Stick to the paper version & appreciate Sark's handwriting and drawings.

i love sark.......when I'm in the mood for her. ;-)
