3.5 stars? I guess? Maybe 4 at times? It is a difficult one to rate because it was really just one long existential crisis. I actually found it quite interesting and unique and the art was great. I have never read a superhero comic quite like it, but the discussion of chaos and order just got repetitive after awhile. Which is obviously the point, but still, it started to feel long about half-way through and I was ready for it to be over.

I love this SO MUCH, it makes me feel like Sandman did the first time I read it.

**Warning: this text may contain spoilers** This book definitely reads like an old classic. The book tackles heavy themes like death and suicide but ultimately chooses rebirth instead of nihilism. The art is beautiful and trippy and deliberate style choices make this book an interesting read, and one i would call a triumph in visual storytelling.

The trans narrative brings it very close to home and also what sets it apart from the older classics.

One of the best miniseries I've read in a long time, Eternity Girl is a thought provoking examination of identity, depression, and suicide told through the lens of a superhero comic. Sonny Liew's art is incredibly detailed and layered with creative layouts and paneling, it truly brings Visaggio's story to life. If you enjoy the works of Grant Morrison and Jack Kirby this is an absolute can't miss.

A cosmic fever dream with a bit of Groundhog Day. Slightly horrific and definitely trippy. 3 stars.

Visually and narratively stunning! Can’t say much without getting into spoilery details. But Visaggio and Liew really outdo themselves here!

Only one thing missing: The book should have a trigger warning/content note at the beginning "suicide, self harm".

It's sad that Sonny Liew, whose Charlie Chan Hock Chye is one of the most incredible and excellent metacomics in existence, was pinned to Visaggio's half-baked writing. DC is in the midst of trying to recapture Vertigo's success in the 90s, but these echoes are, as the book admits early on, just an "existential morass." Unfortunately the absolutely gorgeous art cannot save the book.

I love this sort of thing. This is a lot like the Sandman story "Facade," which also features a suicidal elemental shapeshifter. It also reminded me of Tom King's wonderful Mister Miracle. With the help of Sonny Liew's art, Visaggio plays with the conventions and tropes of the superhero genre in a really fresh and interesting way.
