This book is a wild ride! Sci-fi with some horror elements. I have mixed feelings about it: it is a real page-turner; I liked and was invested in the characters and I thought they were well-developed, fully-realized individuals; and the mixture of science, philosophy, folklore, paranormal, religion, and history was very engaging. However, there were some major leaps in logic that were a little off-putting and took me out of the story from time to time. The creativity is off the charts so if you are looking for a book that is going to stimulate your imagination and you're OK with some things that make you go, "huh?" I recommend this book!

Fascinating sounding premise that was quite poorly executed. A typical example of a man attempting to write his perceived version of a “strong female protagonist.” The creepiest pervert in the story is revealed to have been doing all of these aforementioned creepy and perverted things out of good, world-saving intentions, so it’s actually okay that he preyed on the protagonist, guys, right? Also, magic nipples? Overall, a disappointing read.
