I was really shocked by how much I related to Nadja and her mother. I had a completely different upbringing and yet I saw myself in their fights and the different ways in which they remembered it. I saw own my mother and grandmother in the way Françoise and Josée interacted and reminisced. It was painfully familiar.
I wonder if one day I'll be able to recommend it to my own mother.

i don't think i've been this emotionally affected by a book before!!!! so, so, so good, and maybe someday i'll be brave enough to ask my own mother to read it, too.
