this book was so disjointed, jumping between periods of time and topics randomly, leaving no sense of cohesion and a lot of confusion. and i was left with no real understandings of the impact the author experience as a result of the exploration of three generations of women in her family

A sharp account of memory, motherhood (and daughterhood - is that a word?), and transitions. Beautiful and page-turning, I loved Spiegelman's voice, though she seemed to step back towards the end. Still, a brave and honest chronicle that I won't soon forget.

A stirring account of mothers, daughters, and how the past has a chokehold on the present.

Read this a few years ago - an incredibly powerful examination of parenthood, relationships, and mental health. I remember just having to sit in quiet reflection at certain points.
