I thought this was an enjoyable story and a great start to a new series. Although I did find it a little slow to start with but once all the characters were introduced and the investigation established. I was drawn in and it stayed that way throughout.
As for the two main characters Alex and Madison I liked them both, and they certainly shared a spark. Which did lead to a few hot moments throughout the story, but they were balanced well with the suspense element. Which I did enjoy a lot, especially as the investigation progressed and there was even a bit of action near the end. Which was exciting to read.
Overall though this was a great story, and as a new author to me. I will definitely be checking out more from Sandra Owens in the future and certainly will be reading more from this series. As there were a few intriguing moments scattered through Jack Of Hearts relating to both of Alex's brothers and Madison's best friend, not to mention the epilogue and I would recommend this story to others too.

This book was exactly what I was looking for after being in a slump. It had the perfect amount of mystery, action, romance, and spice. I listen to the audiobook for the majority of the book and it was really good. I loved how devoted all the brothers seem to be. They are devoted to each other, the job, and those they care about. They may give each other a hard time and joke around but they always seem to be there for each other and have a great bond. I also enjoyed Madison. I like how she didn't just give in and how she was stubborn but knew where to draw the line and when not to be. There were bits that were predictable especially with the lying, but I liked the few added twists that I didn't expect. Plus the epilogue! I can't wait for the rest of the Gentry sibling books!

I really enjoyed this audiobook, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
JACK OF HEARTS starts out with a bang, or a crash, and doesn't seem to slow down from there. A lot of intrigue with the occasional fight thrown in for good measure. What really kept me glued to the pages were the Gentry brothers. I can't wait to read Nate and Court's story.
Alex does a great job of playing a biker bar owner who is willing to do whatever is needed to make some cash. Too bad he can't introduce Madison to the real Alex Gentry while he is setting up her uncle and cousin to go down for drugs.
Madison doesn't seem to fit with her family. She radiates an air of innocence that is almost a direct contradiction to her cousin who is a slimeball. She lost her father a year ago and now she is trying to get her new bookstore on its feet while trying to take care of her mother. I really enjoyed watching her come alive as she gets to know Alex.
I enjoyed this book as rather than a lot of shooting and action, we got a chance to watch Alex maneuver undercover. There was a lot of tension to keep me turning pages and the dialogue is witty and had me laughing at times. I do think that my readers would enjoy this book if they like romantic suspense that is heavy on both the suspense and the romance. There were some sex scenes but nothing extremely graphic.

Let me say the first thing I ever read from Sandra Owens was the K2 Series. Probably my favorite series of all time! I was very excited to recieve an ARC of Jack of Hearts!
This book was great from the beginning. I loved the brothers and their back story that has them where they are today! The love story is also great! An FBI agent falling for a drug cartel family member! The ups and downs in this book will keep you on your toes and wanting more with the flip of every page!
Of course, a cliff hanger at the end leaves you craving the next book!

Pretty routine romance plot, with sometimes slightly flat text. Felt like it was "telling" rather than "showing", especially in the early chapters.
Jack of hearts is a fast-paced, jaw dropping contemporary romance where Agent Alex Gentry falls for the niece of the man he was ordered to take down. Sandra Owens displays mastery in creating characters in this novel. Each character was complex and through reading you can feel the connect of each relationship, when I read romance I love a realistic progression of romance. Each scene served to strengthen the credibility of each character and the depth of their relationship, it was realistic and smooth in pacing.

It was OK. I read it over a couple of days. The chapters were quick and fun to read. I didn't find any glaring typos or grammatical errors.

I generally enjoy Sandra Owens romantic suspense novels for being engaging and well-written. I’m not a huge fan of this particular opener to the Ace & Eights series. The characters are likeable enough, and even though, I found their attraction to be more sexual than anything else based on the way the story is told, I’m happy to buy into their “love.” What ruined this novel for me is how STUPID and unprofessional the hero was and how casual about mixing his undercover life with his actual life as an FBI agent, using his real name, living his actual real life house... it just beggared belief for me. I’m no expert in law enforcement but even I thought that was ridiculous. I like the world that Owens has created with the Gentrys and I’m intrigued by the revelation in the epilogue so even though I think the premise of this series is pretty unrealistic, I’ll probably read the rest of the series.
