I wanted this to be better, but it wasn't.

Travel log...This was dry and lacked all the character that Quindlen usually brings. A real disappointment.

A short quick read about London and all the books Quindlen read that were set in this city. Not a bad book, but only touches the tip of all the material set in this wonderful city.

I will say, Quindlen made me want to go back and explore this wonderful city.

Just rating this book makes me want to re read it. If you are like many readers who have read about and dreamed about London and haven't gone this book is wonderful. But it connects to the person who has had the same dreams of London and been there and understood the magic of the city. A must read for all London dreamers.

What a perfect traveling book. It really deserves 5 stars but I gave it 4 simply because Quindlen made so many references to books I haven't read, I know I missed nuances and subtleties in the text.

It's a nice enough book but not the book I thought I was going to read. The execution of concept is less literary history of London and more the author sharing her personal experiences with English literature and London. Fair enough for a memoir, but not what the cover suggests.

I have tried and TRIED to finish this book. It's a slim volume, about one of my favorite places, so I don't know exactly what the disconnect is. I've read the majority of it and am counting it, but I'm never going to finish it.
