I’m still surprised that I started reading this legendary novel and a bit shocked that I actually finished it. It is everything everybody has ever said about it.

James Joyce have too many voices in his head and have never learned how to ignore them.

Also, why is he so obsessed with the Jews?

"it must be a movement then, an actuality of the possible as possible"

Liked the form, but was tortured by the thoughts of the characters.

Stunning, absolutely compelling and certainly worth the copious study, research and Gaelic heartbreak. Can't believe I waited so long to read this book, certainly to my own personal detriment.

Lo he intentado.

felt silly so wanted to read it, was absolutely dead by the end of the book but PEAK if you want something that you cant understand half the time

Yes.

MIC DROP.

If I never read any of his other books, this one alone would make Joyce my favorite author. It isn't a book for everyone, but if you're patient with it, it's a very rewarding read. This book is one of a handful that gets consistently better with each reading. The first go is the hardest, but I encourage you to finish it. Joyce said that he wanted to paint a portrait of Dublin so complete that if it were to disappear, it could be recreated from what was described in his book. I don't know how true that statement is, but I have never read a more complete description of human nature as that presented in this book.
