Okay, I have said it before and I am going to say it again.
I am a GOSH DAMN SUCKER for musician stories. My heart just goes pitter patter at a bajillion miles a minute.
And Truth did not disappoint. Oh no, no, no, disappointment who? We don’t know her around this neck of the woods.
Brooklyn was my favorite. I just gobbled up her sassy, no fucks given bravery. She stood her ground and I loved it.
I mean doesn’t every amazing musician need a sassy, no bullshit, sarcastic women to keep his ego in check? If you didn’t know, the answer is hell yes they do.
Reid was, ugh *sigh, while fanning my face*. He was everything you want in a musician, sexy, flirty (but in a good way), sarcastic, and an ass sometimes (the lovable kind, yeah know?). Once he was in, he was all in.
I think in the end he was just what Brooklyn needed. They needed each other. Cue my heart swelling with love.

Butterflies. This book gave me butterflies in my tummy. It has been a minute since I cheesed so hard at a book. I loved the story and honestly really liked the characters! It was so sweet and just adorable and I cannot wait to read more from this amazing author!
Super great rock star romance!! It's absolutely adorable and fun to consume. I've never seen "A Star is Born" but this is what I imagine the song "Shallow" to be about. I enjoyed how it was unafraid to touch on some darker points as well. Also REID KING. I know he's fictional but WHATTA HUNK!
SJ's "rockstar romance" book was so so good guys!! It had haters to lovers. It had character growth. It had funny best friends. It had stuck in small spaces filled with tension. What more could you want?!
This one is definitely a fun, light read that I would recommend to anyone who loves a good rom-com! It was slightly predictable, but isn't that ultimately what we want out of a rom-com like that?
I haven't read an SJ book that I haven't loved! Her previous books (Yours Truly, Cammie and Three Summers) are on my list too!

COME HERE BABY, LET ME GIVE YOU A HUG.
I’m going to start by saying, while making my way through this book I was in a reading slump and yet, this book held my interest so so well.
I wasn’t in the mood to read but it kept calling to me and I couldn’t help it, I needed to know where this story would lead.
I loved the entertaining aspect of it but I also loved the deeper, emotionally tougher storyline. It added so much depth to the characters and made for a really intriguing story.
Personally, I could relate to Reid on so many levels. His parts, his story, his complexity was written so well. And Brooklyn. Brooklyn was a treat. I absolutely loved her from the first page. Not only was she an amazingly congenial character but her strength and the way she views the world is so inspiring.
The slow burn love story was very magical to me. It felt like being a child again and reading about love for the first time and feeling hopeful and excited and all the warm bubbly feelings that I felt back then.
SJ’s vivid descriptions really added to that feeling. She has this way of describing moments and emotions that makes it all the more enthralling.
I fell in love. With the story, the characters. Everything about ‘Truth’ really spoke to me.
Everything leading up to the moment they finally fall in love was perfect. It was agonizing to go through the slow burn romance, but I felt like the anticipation for them to connect was worth it. It was all going to lead to this explosive emotional moment and I was waiting for it to happen. And it did. It was very well written, it wasn’t cringey or stereotypical and I loved that. It definitely added more to the magical love feeling that I was experiencing.
However, I feel like the resolution was rushed. Especially for Reid and what he went through and all that he dealt with. Granted, it is a romance novel, but I really wanted to see more of the resolution play out.
But I truly, honestly loved it. It was entertaining but also intensely moving and emotionally captivating!

Captivating! I did not want to put it down!
Reid King is in a funk - with good reason - and can not write new music for his next album. Enter Brooklyn- a music teacher that prefers to stay out of the spotlight.
She takes on the job to collaborate with Reid to get him to find his creative flow again.
Reid gives her the cold shoulder and refuses to bend and yet Brooklyn is determined to see this through. She's there for the money and she's not leaving without it.
I fell in love with these two. Reid is determined not to let Brooklyn in and Brooklyn's sense of humor and determination keeps chipping away at his wall.
This story had dark moments but Brooklyn was the ray of sunshine and hope for not only Reid but for the reader as well.

Every book from SJ Sylvis just gets better and better! She is one of my favorite authors and I love her writing so much! She is super talented and can write deeper books like this one as well as wonderful romantic comedies!
Reid King is a famous singer/songwriter who has lost his touch. He has a heartbreaking secret that has blocked his writing. Brooklyn is brought in to help him get inspired again. Brooklyn said yes because she needs to help her family. But the connection between the two of them is strong. Can they work together to work past the block and the walls that Reid has placed around himself?
I fell in love with this book almost immediately after picking it up! I love how much depth there is to this story. The characters and their backstories are so well developed. Reid is such an amazing human being. And I really want Brooklyn to be my best friend! The slow burn in this book had me yelling "JUST KISS ALREADY!" at my kindle more than once.
I can't even express just how much I loved this book! Can't wait to see what's next!

*Thank you to the author for providing me a copy of Truth*
Rock star romance where there is some emotional baggage plus forced proximity?? Check, please!
I enjoyed reading this one. I really felt all the emotion from the characters, especially Reid who was trying to navigate a trauma. The slower burn of this one was also perfect for this story. There was a bit of a mystery plot running through the book as well that I felt worked. Brooklyn was the perfect character to offset rock star Reid. She was witty and bold but with kindness with made her feel very genuine. My favorite bits were them (plus bandmates) having to share a tour bus for the summer. Forced proximity is top notch for me!
Read if your looking for something with a heroine pulling the hero out an emotional shell, slow burn, forced proximity, and genuine characters.
