Honestly, I would give this book six stars.
I expected it to completely destroy me, and hell it did.
It's such an enthralling story, full of emotions and delicacy, beautifully written. I hadn't read anything from the author before but I had quite high expectations, given the hype around Me Before You.
Although I think you have to be over some life experience to be able to truly appreciate the story, to understand the characters and their action. By that I mean divorced parents (or your own split), and definitely a past with horses and riding. For all you horse lovers out there, grab the book! I almost didn't pick it up, reading the negative, disappointing comments on it. Well... As I said, you have to be able to understand certain things for total enjoyment. I wouldn't recommend it under 14 (not because of the content, but the meaning of the story).

Om jag inte hade läst andra böcker av Jojo Moyes tidigare, så hade jag inte läst ut denna.
Intrigen kom sent i historien, och jag upplevde den röda tråden som väldigt hackigt. Karaktärer som nämndes på sidan 30 återkom på sidan 200, och då hade jag glömt bort vilka de var.
Karaktärerna var delvis platta, delvis runda - men oerhört osympatiska.
Jag tycker dessutom att titeln "Under Londons broar" är missvisande då originaltiteln är "Horse Dancer" - antagligen var tanken att boken ska locka till sig fler läsare. Boken handlar VÄLDIGT mycket om hästar , och speciellt bandet mellan häst och ägare.
Boken var som helhet, tråkig.

Se opri locului pret de un moment, nestiind daca putea avea incredere in propriii ochi. Apoi bratul ei alb se ridica, capul elegant al lui Gerontius inclinandu-se peste usa ca sa ia cu botul ceea ce ea ii oferise. El o lua din loc pasind grabit, cu varfurile de metal ale cizmelor tacanindu-i pe pavajul ud.

El o cuprinse cu bratele in vreme ce ea se rasucea catre el. 0 saruta, inclinandu-si capul ca sa poata adulmeca parfumul incredibil al parului ei si ofta, sunetul parand sa vina de undeva din strafundurile fiintei lui.
- Am ajuns dupa-amiaza. Abia am avut timp sa ma schimb. Sunt sigur ca arat groaznic... dar am fost in public si te-am vazut prin cortina. Trebuia sa vin ca sa-ti urez noroc, spuse ea cu fata ingropata in umarul lui. Cuvintele i se amestecasera intre ele, dar el abia o putea auzi, oricum. Era socat de simpla prezenta a fetei, de senzatia pe care i-o dadea trupul ei in bratele lui dupa atatea luni de absenta.
- Uita-te la tine! spuse ea facand un pas in spate si plimbandu-si privirea de la chipiul negru la uniforma impecabila, iar apoi intinzandu-si bratul ca sa culeaga un fir de praf imaginar de pe epoletii lui aurii. El observA cu recunostinta ca ii parea rau sa-si retraga degetele. Nu exista nici o stanjeneala in gestul ei, se minuna el, nici macar dupa atatea luni. Nici un fel de cochetarii. Era cat se putea de sincera, fata din imaginatia lui, devenita reala din nou.

The opportunity to read this book from Jojo Moyes's back catalog will excite her fans, and the story is mostly enjoyable. While the story of Natasha, Mac, Sarah, Henri, and Boo is interesting, it's also a little too long, and it's just not quite as compelling as the author's later works, making it easy to see why this wasn't the book that took off. If you're passionate about horses, perhaps this will resonate a bit deeper, as Sarah's deep love for Boo and for fulfilling the dreams of her grandfather are the heart of the story.

Would have given this a 2.5 in a better rating system, but it was a quick read so no biggie. I'm a lifelong horsewoman, primarily a dressage rider, and there was much less horse than people in the book which I found disappointing. That'll teach me to read more than one review!

Not as good as Me Before You or The Girl You Left Behind, but a great story nonetheless. Jojo Moyes continues to impress me and has become a favorite author of mine.
