My 4 year old son thought this book was hilarious. He was constantly searching for the mozzie in the woman's belly and pointing it out. It was quite an "aussie" sense of humor and I quite enjoyed it too. His first response when I read out the title was "Yuck. A Mozzie!" Which is how we all feel in situations like that, but even worse if it'd been a fly - yuck! But he got really into it and was shouting out "She must be Aussie" at all the right moments. It was a good book to enjoy together and get him involved.

Gabriel said: She got fat because she ate too much. My favourite part was the snake. She sucked it like spaghetti. She must be Aussie!

I seem to dislike these books in inverse proportion to my children (who love them, if there's one hidden on a library shelf they will find it and shortly thereafter be in fits of giggles).

I'm not a great fan of the song, which seems to be a perennial favourite in picturebook world, but the illustrations are awesome.
