The information is pretty ok, the delivery is awful. Barely got through it.

Eat food, mostly plants, not too much.

Fascinating book about getting back to basics in our food eating. It was interesting to read about the various studies.

A nice examination of food culture, particularly in modern America and how we can act subversively to the food industry by eating our food mindfully, locally, and green(ly). I would read Michael Pollans to-do list if he allowed it.

Published in 2008, the information in it is still excellent and largely unheeded by the general American population. The first two parts had info I knew, or had read at some point, or was science/statistics based, but the final third of the book was the source of excellent, helpful, and healthful information that I was glad to read.

“‘...Whole foods and industrial foods are the only two food groups I’d consider including in any useful food pyramid.’ In other words, instead of worrying about nutrients, we should simply avoid any food that has been processed to such an extent that it is more the product of industry than of nature” (p. 143).

It is such a thoughtful and straightforward book that we should all read. A wonderful exploration of food, systems, and taking care of ourselves and the planet.
